The visa application process in the UAE region has become increasingly stringent due to current regulations. To ensure a smooth and timely approval, we strongly encourage all delegates to initiate their visa applications as early as possible.
We can provide visa invitation letters for ticket holders when requested. Please email a photo/scan of your passport to rotaryd2452.conference@gmail.com once you have booked your ticket.

General Information
s you prepare for the 12th Rotary District 2452 Conference, here are some essential tips to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay:
Connectivity
WIFI: As you land at the airport you can connect to the Airport WIFI. The Hotel will have free WIFI on all premises. Many public areas, malls, and cafes have free WIFI.
Phone Communication: We recommend that you grab a Free SIM Card at the Airport. Ask your immigration officer or after crossing the immigration at the Dubai International Airport, you can pick up the SIM card from any of the counters for the telecom operator Du or Etisalat, the two biggest telecom operators in Dubai. Download the BOTIM app for free calls and messages. WhatsApp calls do not work in the UAE.
Transportation
If you plan to take public transport, you will need to purchase a Nol Card. For Taxi booking, the most convenient is to download the Careem App. Closest Metro Station to Raffles Hotel is: Dubai Healthcare City Metro Station
Dress Code
The conference dress code for the official program is Formal Attire.
Weather Preparedness
Dubai is known for its warm climate. Light and breathable fabrics are recommended. Always carry sunglasses, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunscreen for protection against the sun. A light jacket is also advisable for indoor areas.
Currency
The local currency is the UAE Dirham (AED). Credit cards are widely accepted, but it's useful to carry some cash for smaller purchases.

What is the main language in Dubai?
- Arabic is the primary language used in all dealings and public transactions. English serves as an informal second language and is spoken by a large section of its society. All road signs are bilingual in both Arabic and English.
Is tap water safe to drink?
- Water from public water fountains is safe to drink, however it is recommended to drink bottled water in private residences.
Which plug socket is used?
- The UAE uses type G plug sockets. The standard voltage is 230 V at a frequency of 50 Hz. We recommend bringing a universal adapter.
Are there data roaming charges?
- You will need to check the exact charges with your network provider but most international delegates will incur high data roaming charges. It is recommended to purchase a Tourist eSIM upon arrival at any UAE airport. We recommend using Etisalat and Du.
Is there anything prohibited in Dubai?
- Dubai is an open-minded and tolerant society where people from all over the world live harmoniously and respectfully. As with any destination, residents and tourists must abide by the local laws. It is important to note that the moral code is stricter in the United Arab Emirates than in some parts of the world. For example, it is prohibited to drink alcohol in public places other than licensed hotels and their restaurants, as well as in dedicated lounges. Furthermore, excessive public displays of affection are not allowed.
