My Fellow Rotarians,

August is Membership Month, a time to celebrate our clubs, our members and the good we do in our community and around the world.

This Rotary Year has already begun, and the clubs in our District 2452 have ahead of them a year full of plans to grow membership stronger and serve better with Rotary.

As District Membership Chair, together with the country chairs and club chairs, I believe that it is time to make some fundamental changes, as Rotary International President Mark Maloney asked for, that's why we started practical steps by encouraging all the clubs to achieve applicable action plan for membership growth in their clubs and addressing the root causes of membership loss looking not at individuals but at the community.

If we want to be part of an organization that is strong, healthy, engaged, active and having an impact, let us all join hands and support all the steps and surveys needed to formulate and implement such a plan.

If we want to achieve the goals we have set for our District, countries and clubs we need to put membership first; all of us have a responsibility to take membership seriously. Let us continue to reinforce our clubs with fellowship and look for more quality members, people who have demonstrated good character, integrity and leadership.

If we are really serious about growing Rotary and attracting new members from all demographics we must innovate, we need new clubs with alternative experiences.

At the end I would like to thank District Governor Shawket Tadros for his confidence and full support and my fellow country membership chairs for their hard work and dedication.

Together we grow,

George Mitri Azar
